A rich history and a future full of innovation
Armada Rail, as the company was originally known, traces its origins back to 1963, when it emerged from Electrorail, the overhead line manufacturing division of the Dutch Railways. This strong foundation in the rail infrastructure market laid the groundwork for a company that grew over the years and continuously specialized further.
After its acquisition by Volker Stevin Rail & Traffic in the 1990s, Armada Rail became a key player in a competitive market.
In 2000, Armada Rail became part of the Andus Group (formerly RijnDijk Group), opening new opportunities to leverage expertise and facilities within the group. A milestone in our development was the merger with Armada Mobility in 2016. This resulted in a strong organization that combines innovation and customer focus with deep specialization in rail infrastructure and public spaces.
Since December 18, 2024, Armada Mobility has become part of the Crowd Group—a young and innovative group of companies specializing in public space design. With brands such as Velopa, Cyclepods, Ziegler, IJslander, Lumiguide, Bailey Street, and HITSA, this strategic acquisition ensures that we remain a leader in creating sustainable and innovative public spaces that enhance urban environments.
